Snow at School

Check out these photos of what school looks like covered in snow!!  Shame you weren't all there to play in it - imagine the snowman we all could of built together!!

Look at the poor sandpit toys!  That little digger has a lot of snow to move!
Don't the playgrounds look different covered in snow!
 Do you recognise the astroturf?

Thank you Miss C for the photos. :)

Digby's Snowman

When Chelsea and Jacob got home they took Digby outside and made a snowman together.

Snow!!

Digby put his winter coat and hat on this morning, and went outside to play in the snow at Mrs Jones' house.
I hope all the Room 1 children are having fun playing in the snow too!
What an exciting thing to happen in the school holidays!!  Can't wait to hear about all your snow adventures when school goes back.
Love Mrs Jones

Simon's Cat

We have been watching some really funny video's about Simon's Cat.  They made us smile and laugh a lot.

Simon's cat will make you laugh too.  If you have time to spare check out Simon's Cat on You Tube.

One of the ones that we thought was the funniest was "Fly Guy".

Here are some of our stories...

Simon's Cat is naughty and Simon swallowed a fly and the cat put the fly in Simon's mouth.  He ripped the curtains and Simon's cat got sticky tape.  He wanted to come in and he does lots of meowing.  The video was funny and he is in lots of mischief.  He is awesome and he spilled the milk.

Praying Mantis Masks

Today the Blues Clues reading group read a story about a praying mantis.  They made these cool masks so they would look like a praying mantis too.  I hope they don't start eating flies!!

Red Socks Day - Friday 8 July

Today was Red Socks Day throughout NZ.

We celebrated the memory of a great leader - Sir Peter Blake - by wearing a pair of red socks.

Sir Peter Blake liked to wear his red socks for good luck, and during the America's Cup Challenge of 1995 people in NZ supported the boat by putting on their own red socks.

Red Sock Day supports the Sir Peter Blake Trust for Leadership in Action.

Last year just the teachers at South Hornby wore red socks but this year the children were asked to wear their red socks to support Red Socks Day too!

Grandparents Day

Yesterday the Junior Syndicate had a Grandparents Day - and our grandparents came to school.

We have been learning about what life was like when our grandparents were our age (5 years old).

We had a little concert with singing and then folk dancing outside.  Then our grandparents came back to our classroom to see our work, and they had lunch with us.

Check out our photos...
