Red Socks Day - Friday 8 July

Today was Red Socks Day throughout NZ.

We celebrated the memory of a great leader - Sir Peter Blake - by wearing a pair of red socks.

Sir Peter Blake liked to wear his red socks for good luck, and during the America's Cup Challenge of 1995 people in NZ supported the boat by putting on their own red socks.

Red Sock Day supports the Sir Peter Blake Trust for Leadership in Action.

Last year just the teachers at South Hornby wore red socks but this year the children were asked to wear their red socks to support Red Socks Day too!
